I'm a HUGE fan of the Torso's. A good friend of mine plays bass for them now. I was a big fan of JoJo Mayer with the band. The new guy is great too. Sean Rickman ..

Rickman's playing w SHTs now? Killer. He occasionally peruses & posts in here. Fine player.

I've heard of the SHTs, but I've never actually heard any of their stuff [that i was aware of who they were!]. Are they on the radio at all? Or are they "underground?" I hardly ever listen to radio anymore...i listen to my own library. Basically am sick of most [but not all] so-called "popular music." Thanks for that Rodge. I can now finally give them a listen.

Lake is fantastic player AW. Saw him live w Sanborn, along w Chick's bands [w VC & DW ] & whatnot, & he was killing [also w the great Don Alias on perc]. I am presently looking for some good stuff w GL [playing representations of]. You cats have any good GL stuff? I seem to rem a thread a good while ago where some peeps mentioned some recordings he is on.

There was a torrent up on DaD with Meshell Ndegeochello at a jazz fest. Really killer playing there! Do a search for her on the DaD site to see if it's still up.

The SHT debut album is untouchable... best songs and nobody can touch JoJo!!! I just heard the brand-new one and it's ok, sounds like they got their original vocalist back and if I'm not mistaking it's Lake on drums again?

Yeah Gene's a monster, but I think they need to get JoJo back in there for a reunion!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I totally agree with you. The second album ("Live!") is great too, and has a brilliant playing by Gene Lake (but I prefer Jojo!). The last cd is more commercial, with simpler arrangements. I by far prefer the other albums.

Check out the DVD too, fantastic!! It's a double DVD, with an older show (NYC, 1996) and a more recent (Paris), both with Gene Lake on drums. Watching these videos I've noticed how good is the percussionist, Daniel Sadownick.
